Our members hand make hardwood garden benches and garden seats in oak, elm and other woods. They also make solid wood picnic tables and benches, which can be used in either gardens or public parks and picnic areas.

All the wood used by ASHS members for garden furniture is grown and cut in Scotland and is carefully chosen for its strength and toughness, durability, and natural beauty. Oak is often the first choice for outdoor furniture because of its natural durability, but its also possible to use other hardwoods, such as elm, and durable softwoods, especially European larch.

The garden benches, seats and picnic tables are usually made to order. They are strong and built to last, and because they are handmade, no two are identical, unlike most of the furniture thats currently available through garden centres.
