Falkirk Wood, Hardwood Timber Merchants, Central Scotland - Specialising in Scottish hardwoods, work surfaces, wooden flooring and decking, turnery wood and burrs. Falkirk Wood makes fireplace surrounds  and coffee tables to order; other furniture can be commissioned from associates Scotland and Dalgety Designer Cabinet Makers.

Falkirk Wood supports the sustainable management of Scotland's woodlands and forests by using only Scottish timber, usually from within a 50 mile radius of their base on the outskirts of Falkirk.

Timber Merchants. Falkirk Wood supply Scottish hardwood boards for furniture making, interior and exterior joinery, carving and turnery. They hold a variety of Scottish hardwoods in stock, including oak, elm, sycamore, ash, lime and beech. The wood is full of character and is ideal for feature pieces where the natural beauty of timber can be seen and best appreciated.

Planks are sawn through and through and are available in 32mm, 45mm, and 58mm thicknesses. A variety of thicker sections are also available, although these are not generally kiln dried.

Flooring, Mouldings and Decking. Falkirk Wood produces hardwood flooring and mouldings, and oak decking.

Flooring is available in beech, elm, ash, sycamore and oak. Scottish timber produces flooring which is full of colour and character. Boards are 83mm wide, 23mm thick, random length and tongue and grooved.

A wide range of skirtings, door surrounds and other mouldings can be produced, using any type of wood in stock.

Oak heartwood is used for decking due to its natural durability, i.e. resistance to rotting. Untreated, it weathers to a silver-grey colour; alternatively, it can be oiled to retain the original honey colour. Boards are 94mm wide with bevels and no grooves. Other widths can be manufactured, provided suitable stock is available.

Products. Falkirk Wood manufactures work surfaces, coffee tables and fireplace surrounds to customers' specifications. As all these are made to measure, customers are advised to contact Falkirk Wood at an early stage.

The most popular woods for work surfaces are beech and elm, although any hardwood can be used, or even a mixture.

Falkirk Wood has designed a "Woodlovers' Coffee Table" which is made to measure to suit customers' requirements. The table features all the main Scottish hardwoods.

Falkirk Wood fireplace surrounds are designed to show off the wood to its best advantage. The design can be adjusted to suit the customer's room, or if you have a design in mind Falkirk Wood can supply component parts.

Furniture Making. Falkirk Wood is associated with furniture makers Scotland and Dalgety Designer Cabinet Makers (see www.scotland-dalgety.co.uk). Commissions include individual pieces such as tables and chairs as well as doors, kitchens and bathrooms. Hardwood supplied by Falkirk Wood.
