Gavin Munro - Hardwood Advisor for Scottish Hardwood Logs
Gavin Munro is a ex-log buyer, who has traded in felled
Scottish hardwood logs throughout the UK, but mainly in Scotland. He
has a tremendous interest in and enthusiasm for British hardwoods, and
has worked in the timber trade for 43 years.
Gavin recently retired from full-time employment, but is continuing to
work in the trade as a freelance advisor and consultant, travelling
mainly in south and central Scotland to value logs
and standing timber. He is willing to purchase timber on behalf of ASHS members and can also
source unusual logs if required, e.g., oak logs with a bend for cruck
frames. If youre buying or selling hardwood in Scotland or if
you need advice on hardwood logs, give him a call. He has a wealth of
knowledge about the quality and value of Scottish hardwood logs and the
hardwood trade in Scotland in particular.
Gavin has run more than 30 training days in
hardwood (including training on grading, valueing and measuring
hardwood) for the timber trade in general, the Forestry Commission, the Northern Irish Forest
Service, and the Southern Ireland Forest Service (COILLTE). He is closely associated with BIHIP (British & Irish Hardwood Improvement Project) and a keen member of Woodland Heritage. |
