The ASHS Subscription Calendar
ASHS operate on a system that aligns all membership subscriptions to the 4th of April, regardless of when in the year they join. This system makes it easier for the ASHS team to manage membership fees.
How it works
Full Members
ASHS Full members buy their £100 share capital upon joining the organisation, which also covers their first 12 months subscription fees.
This will be collected via GoCardless direct debit, which is set up by the new member upon joining.
The ASHS co-ordinator will assist you to move your subscription renewal date to the 4th of April. At the end of your first 12 months (covered by your initial £100 payment), you will be charged via your direct debit for the remainder of the financial year.
Associate Members
Associate members do not own shares in ASHS. Their first membership payment only needs to cover the membership fees.
Associates automatically join the ASHS 4th April subscription calendar. Their renewal date will be set to the 4th of April, when their first full subscription payment of £40 will be automatically taken.
ASHS will set up a one-time payment to cover the period between the new Associate member joining the organisation, and their first subscription payment in April. This will be charged at £3.30 per month and will be collected via direct debit.

If a new member joins in August 2024.
They pay their £100 share capital, and their membership subscriptions are now covered until the end of August 2025.
In September 2025 they are charged a fee of £60.
This is calculated at £8.30 per month for 7 months (period September 2025– April 2026), rounded to the nearest £5.
From April 4th 2026, their subscription will renew regularly at £100 per year.

If a new Associate member joins in August 2024.
They are automatically entered into the ASHS subscription calendar, meaning their first subscription payment of £40 is due to be collected on the 4th of April 2025.
ASHS arrange a one-time payment of £25 to cover the period between now and their first subscription payment in April.
This is calculated at £3.30 per month for 7 months (period September 2024– April 2025), rounded to the nearest £5.
Their subscription will renew regularly on the 4th pf April.
The cover charge for the month the new member joins will be decided based on how far through the month the new member joins. This decision is made at ASHS’ discretion.
ASHS subscriptions are collected via GoCardless direct debit.
